What do you think of "indie" rock?

I just recently started getting into the genre, and i really like a
lot of the bands.
Not actually indie, but more of that "indie" style alternative sound,
like the strokes, death cab for cutie,arcade fire, the black keys,
stuff like that. :P

BQ: Do you think "indie" could be the next big thing in music, like
